Interesting week! I have great friends! I have friends of both sexes. I have friends who are there for me when I'm low. I have friends whose sole purpose is to challenge me. I have friends who love me no matter what. I have friends who give me sexual satisfaction when I want it. I have friends who are more than willing to listen, to whatever I have to say. I have friends who encourage me. I have friends whom I can talk to about anything. I even have friends who don't agree with me and
don't want to hear everything. ;) And you know what? It's totally and completely AWESOME!!!
Many years ago, even before my divorce, I discovered that one person can never be everything to another person. It seems we are raised to think that we will find THE one person who will fulfill all our needs, marry them and live happily ever after. What a crock!
It's friends. It is the friends we make in our life that give us what we need. I've created a circle of friends that just about gives me all that I need. Just about..... While it might be nice to try and combine some of these needs into one person, for now, I'm enjoying the life I have and savoring the good friendships I have made.
One of my friends invited me to his boat this weekend. The weather was beautiful, the company was excellent, the views were fantastic!
My bff gave me a few things to think about this week, challenged me, to rethink my views.
My niece reminded me that I am 'cool' to her.
My date-a-holic friend gave me some perspective on relationships.
A very close friend invited me to Vegas to learn about retiring overseas next weekend. I can't wait to see her and learn about relaxing in a hammock in my old age.
My crazy friend decided she is too busy to date. She has a life to lead and is happy to wait for prince charming to knock on her door. (not so far fetched! My sister found her husband when he knocked on her door to count her for the census!)
My dad who has become my support and rock gave me encouragement to continue writing.
This is just a sampling of the wonderful friends I have.... there are many more who touch my life on a daily basis. I am grateful to all of them for all they do for me.
Take a look around. I bet you have a pretty big support system that you never realized was there.
I absolutely love this and agree 100%. Well rounded individuals such as ourselves need to have a well rounded circle of friends!!! Keep up the great work.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jo! We got to support each, for sure!
ReplyDeleteI have friends that remind me of friends I've lost, This gives me an exponential amount of friends and helps heal the ache.
ReplyDeleteAgreed Anonymous! I depend on my friends for healing all the time.
